Think of these links as windows in a many-roomed house — each one looking out from a different angle, through clearer and more honest glass than the painted-over, one-dimensional panes of corporate mainstream media… which is still, for most people, nearly all that’s available.

The more time we spend wandering these rooms, the better sense we begin to get of what is actually happening in the larger world — worlds, really, in the plural. Because what is true can look and feel quite different from different directions, different peoples, different places on this earth. And the more directions we’re willing to look from, the more we may begin to find our own firm ground — a “here” that is both genuinely ours and genuinely shared.

That kind of seeing is what makes a stand possible. Not a stand against the diversity of all our differences — but one that holds them, together, as the larger thing we actually are.
